Most software companies are taking the ‘Cloud’ very seriously and providers are falling over themselves to host their products in the cloud. This is called Software as a Service or SaaS.
What is the ‘Cloud?’
The ‘Cloud’ is simply a nebulous way to talk about a highly technical collection of servers and disk space that is usually in a very large, very secure, climate controlled building of very powerful computing power. They are usually protected by several layers of access approval, many even with retinal scanners! Many companies invest in several of these sites around the country (and the world) for redundancy in emergency situations to avoid downtime at all costs.
What is SaaS?
Software as a Service (SaaS) is essentially a ‘rented’ piece of Software or Storage that you pay for on a monthly or annual basis. This enables the creator or owner of the product to better update it for you, maintain it with their own teams so you don’t have to. Of course it comes with a price with the teams of people and the Cloud based hosting costs. It is the future and the future is now.
Office 365 / One Drive / SharePoint
These are all prime examples of Cloud Computing and yes, G First can explain it to you in layman’s terms, migrate you to these products and help you take the most advantage of Cloud Computing.
Not every instance demands Cloud Computing. G First is up on the latest information and can help you decide if you want On Premise Computing or Cloud Computing. Part of our partnership with you is to discuss, decide and move ahead whether it makes sense to move to the cloud or not. Either way, it’s not about us, it’s about you.
